On 22 May 2024 and 10 October 2024, partners of the European OPEN4ALL project held two online coordination meetings to review progress and advance the next phases of the project.
During the meeting in May, the consortium focused on completing Activity A2: Identification and sharing of good practices. Over the previous months, Fundación Miradas and Controvento identified a range of good practices related to communication accessibility. This work was complemented by focus groups with people with complex communication needs, as well as questionnaires addressed to professionals and families, aimed at identifying barriers, difficulties and everyday challenges in communicative accessibility.
Based on the information gathered, partners agreed to move forward with Activity A3: Methodology design and creation of the AAC Toolkit, which represents a core outcome of the project.
In the subsequent online meeting held in October, partners discussed the next key steps, including the upcoming transnational meeting in Catania (Italy) on 12–13 November. This meeting will be essential to finalise the design and structure of the AAC Toolkit, ensuring that it responds effectively to the real needs identified by people with disabilities, professionals and families.
These online meetings reflect the strong collaboration within the OPEN4ALL consortium and its shared commitment to improving communication accessibility, empowering professionals, and promoting the full participation and autonomy of people with complex communication needs across Europe.
